UFC rolled out UFC Vegas 4 last night from the Apex Centre in Las Vegas with the showdown between Dan Hooker and Dustin Poirier headlining the show.
The main event saw Poirier and Hooker starting off cautiously in the first-round but picking the pace up in the fourth minute as both fighters landed some significant strikes. Poirier started the second round on a strong note and landed some huge strikes in close range. This set the tone for the rest of the round which produced plenty of action from both sides.
A failed takedown attempt from Hooker almost helped Poirier get a guillotine mid-way through the third round but Hooker managed to squeeze his neck out right in time and sailed into the fourth. The ground expertise of Poirier came into play in the fourth round as he had multiple submission attempts in the round.
There was plenty of action in the fifth round as well and in the end, it was Dustin Poirier that got the unanimous decision victory.
Mike Perry got a decision win over Mickey Gall in the co-main event after three rounds of action. Perry, who came into the fight without any team, only had his girlfriend in his corner for the fight and managed to get a score of 29-28 in the books of all three judges.
After the fight, he noted that he will be looking for a new team and even urged the government to reduce the tax cuts.
Elsewhere, Maurice Green got a submission win over Gian Villante right before the co-main event when Brendan Allen secured a decision victory over Kyle Daukaus.
Takashi Sato produced an impressive performance when he went home with a first round TKO finish against Jason Witt. Julian Erosa submitted Sean Woodson with a D’Arce and pushed his case in the rankings while Khama Worthy also had a similar outing in the featured prelim where he got a submission win.
Tanner Boser, Kay Hansen, and Youssef Zalal also secured wins in the prelims. You can see the complete results below.
