UFC returned with UFC Vegas 35 today which featured the headliner between Edson Barboza and Giga Chikadze.
In the main event, Barboza and Chikadze delivered an exciting striking showdown. Chikadze had a slight upper hand in the first round mainly due to his movement which was causing troubles to Barboza. Barboza was trying to figure out the puzzle posed by Chikadze in the second round as well. The third round did not last much as Chikadze went on to finish Barboza and moved to 7-0 in the UFC.
In the co-main event, Bryan Battle won the TUF 29 title with a submission win over Gilbert Urbina. Bryan managed to lock in a rear-naked choke submission in the second round to take home the title.
Ricky Turcios also won the TUF 29 title when he got the better of Brady Hiestand after a three-round affair and secured a split decision win. In the opening fight of the main card, Gerald Meerschaert secured a much-needed win against Makhud Muradov. Meerschaert submitted Muradov in the second round via a rear-naked choke which was his second straight submission.
Andre Petroski scored a late TKO and took home a win against Michael Gillmore when Daniel Rodriguez ruined the return of Kevin Lee by securing a unanimous decision victory.
Abdul Razak Alhassan produced a first-round KO in the featured prelims. The likes of Wellington Turman, Dustin Jacoby, JJ Aldrich, Pat Sabatini, and Mana Martinez also got wins in the preliminary card.
