UFC Fighter Salary: Jake Paul warns Dana White about the movement

UFC Fighter Salary has been a topic of debate for a long time now. And now, popular YouTuber Jake Paul has entered the discussion with his opinion.

The popular YouTuber who recently got a knockout win over Ben Askren in a Boxing match is all set to face former UFC Welterweight Champion, Tyron Woodley. As per Woodley, the payment he will be receiving for the match with Jake Paul is bigger than what he received for any of his MMA fights.

During his face-off with Woodley, Jake Paul voiced his take on the UFC Fighter Salary situation and noted that there is a movement taking place which Dana White should not ignore.

“There’s a movement, moving forward that is gonna show that fighters should be getting paid more. It’s unfair. The UFC fighters don’t have fair pay. Out of all the sports, the percentage that the owners get versus the athlete, they’re the lowest. Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones, that fight should happen. Dana White, pay them the $10 million. He’s taking their money. They’re the ones making the content. They’re the ones getting in the ring, risking their life,” Jake Paul noted.

He further went on to take the example of Chris Weidman to underline how dangerous fighting is. A former UFC Middleweight champion, Weidman had recently broken his leg during his fight at UFC 261.

“Chris Weidman goes in, snaps his leg in half; what does that look like? He may never be able to fight again and provide food for his family. These fighters are risking their lives,” Jake Paul added.

He went on to further add that UFC Fighters are locked in on contracts which they cannot get out of.

"You can quite literally die in the ring. And they need to be compensated more. And I’m a big proponent of that movement and being in control. And just like music labels, same thing – These artists are getting owned, and they get locked up into these shi**y contracts, and they don’t know what to do. So, f**k that sh**. F**k Dana White,” he concluded.

The Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren fight on Pay-Per-View had done 1.5 Million buys which was bigger than UFC 194 which featured Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo and just below UFC 202 which featured Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz II.

Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley: Salaries

Coming back to the fight with Woodley, Malki Kawa, who is the agent of Woodley, noted that it will be a big payday for the former UFC champion.

"Yeah, he's getting paid really well. It's one of the best deals I've ever done. It's a tremendous deal. He's getting a large base number, he's getting a cut of the pay-per-view globally. He should walk away with a multi-million dollar payday. His base guarantee is in the millions already, but add on all the other extra stuff, it's a really nice payday." Kawa said.

Kawa also went on to add that a big share of the money made from the fight will be going to Jake Paul due to obvious reasons.

"We just got to a point where we felt comfortable with it and Jake is probably making the lion's share of the money, which he is, but nonetheless, it's a really good payday for him," Kawa added.
