With Francis Ngannou all set to enter the last fight of his UFC contract later this year, an interesting development featuring the UFC Heavyweight champion has occurred on social media.
Ngannou was called out by boxing superstar Tyson Fury last day and Fury expressed his interest in fighting Ngannou in a boxing match.
“Who would like to see me fight this beast boxing rules @ufc gloves?” Fury tweeted from his official Twitter account.
He was immediately met with a reply from Ngannou who put forward another exciting prospect of having the fight under MMA rules but with boxing gloves.
“How about MMA rules with boxing gloves? I can do you that favor.” Ngannou tweeted.
Ngannou currently holds a professional MMA record of 16-3 to his name and is riding on a five-fight winning streak. He is coming off a win against former UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic as well. Interestingly, Ngannou is having a rough patch with the UFC with the promotion yet to renew his contract which ends after his fight with Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 on 23 January 2022.
There were rumors of Ngannou exploring boxing after his UFC contract and the tweet from Fury makes matters more interesting. Tyson Fury, meanwhile, is 31-0-1 in professional boxing and is sitting atop his two back-to-back wins over Deontay Wilder.
