UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou is all set to defend his title against Ciryl Gane early next year. While he is preparing for the huge showdown with his former teammate, Ngannou took some time out for an interview with TMZ where he gave his thoughts on the boxing career of Jake Paul.

Talking to TMZ, Ngannou revealed that he is impressed by Jake Paul’s run and added that people should take him seriously.

“Honestly, I was impressed by Jake Paul. I didn’t see that coming. I was sure that Tyron Woodley was going to win this fight, you know? But you’ve got to give it to Jake Paul. He made a statement, a huge statement and he proved his money is where his mouth is. He’s taking himself very seriously. … You better take him seriously because he proved it,” Ngannou noted (h/t MMA Junkie).

Jake Paul landed a huge upset this past weekend when he knocked out former UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to remain undefeated in his professional boxing career. With the win, Jake also improved his record to 5-0. When asked about the possibility of a fight with Jake Paul, Ngannou said that it is something that does not interest him.

“No, that’s not the same thing. It’s not the same generation. Even if I go out there for boxing, it’s not to box Jake Paul. As good as he might be, he’s not my level. He’s not my weight class, first of all. I might have 80-100 pounds over him. It’s not the same thing. He doesn’t want this smoke,” he added.
