Indian boxer Ashish Kumar bowed out of the Olympics after suffering a defeat to Erbieke Tuoheta of China in the Round of 32 of the Middleweight category.

Erbieke Tuoheta got a clean sweep in the first round of the showdown despite a strong showing from Ashish who had a great work rate in the round. The second round proved to be a similar story. Touheta even managed to produce a small cut in the face of Ashish who was constantly moving forward. Though it was a crucial third round for Ashish, Touheta kept things in his favor and fended off the attempts from the Indian. With the loss, the Olympic campaign of Ashish comes to an end.

Last day, Mary Kom had booked her spot in the Round of 16 after securing a win over Miguelina Hernandez of the Dominican Republic.
