Stamp Fairtex moves to ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Final, to fight Ritu Phogat

The ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Semi-Final showdown between Stamp Fairtex and Julie Mezabarba went down today at ONE: NEXT GEN and saw

The first round saw Stamp trying to keep the range with her kicks but Julie managed to close distance and soon started working on the cage. The round proved to be a close one and in the second round, Julie was pushing forward when Stamp was working on her back foot. The tide turned in favor of Stamp midway through the second round. Stamp managed to keep the momentum going throughout the third round and took home the decision win. With the win, she progressed into the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Final and will now fight Ritu Phogat on December 3, 2021. 

Stamp Fairtex came into the fight on the back of a victory against Alyona Rassohyna. Prior to this, Stamp had suffered the first defeat of her MMA Career against Alyona, and that too in a controversial fashion which set up the rematch.

Julie, on the other hand, had a record of 9-2 heading into the fight and was riding on a six-fight winning streak. She made her ONE Championship debut against Mei Yamaguchi at ONE: EMPOWER in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Alternative match and secured a unanimous decision victory as well.

Stamp Fairtex vs. Ritu Phogat is set to be the final

In the second semi-final of the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix. Ritu Phogat went up against Jenelyn Olsim of Team Lakay and secured a decision win to progress into the finals.

Ritu was initially scheduled to fight Itsuki Hirata in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Semi-Final clash but the fight was called off after Hirata had to withdraw due to high fever. Jenelyn Olsim, meanwhile, was originally scheduled to face Jihin Radzuan in a World Grand Prix alternate bout at ONE: NEXTGEN II but stepped into face Ritu Phogat on short notice.

Olsim came into the fight with a record of 5-2 to her name and won her last fight against Bi Nguyen. Prior to this, she had also secured a win over Maira Mazar in ONE Championship. Ritu, meanwhile, had an impressive win over Meng Bo in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Quarter-Finals prior to the fight with Olsim.
