Indian MMA star Ritu Phogat has a new opponent for ONE: NEXT GEN as she will be fighting Jenelyn Olsim of Team Lakay. Ritu was initially scheduled to fight Itsuki Hirata in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Semi-Final clash but the fight has been called off after Hirata had to withdraw due to undisclosed medical issues.
Jenelyn Olsim was originally scheduled to face Jihin Radzuan in a World Grand Prix alternate bout at ONE: NEXTGEN II. She will now step in to face Phogat.
Olsim comes in with a record of 5-2 to her name and won her last fight against Bi Nguyen. Prior to this, she had also secured a win over Maira Mazar in ONE Championship. She will be looking to put the momentum to use when she steps into the cage to fight Ritu at ONE: NEXT GEN with a place in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix finals up for grabs.
Ritu, meanwhile, is on an impressive run and booked her place in the semi-finals by getting the better of an experienced Meng Bo.
The main event of ONE: NEXT GEN card has also been changed after ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion Roman Kryklia withdrew from his ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Title bout against Iraj Azizpour. Stamp Fairtex vs. Julie Mezabarba, the other World Grand Prix semifinal, will now serve as the main event for ONE: NEXTGEN. You can check out the updated fight card for ONE: NEXT GEN below.
