Savvas Michael is preparing for his ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix semifinal fight against ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE 161, which will air in U.S. primetime on 26 August

But while training for that huge fight, he shared his thoughts on the upcoming bantamweight Muay Thai battle between Muangthai PK.Saenchai and Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE 159: De Ridder vs. Bigdash on 22 July at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Typically, Michael would pick the Thai fighter to win because he has seen Muangthai train during his stay at Petchyindee Academy in Bangkok. However, he shared his concerns about Muangthai leading into this fight.

“With Muangthai, I think his jaw is not really good. He's getting knocked out a lot, and he seems slow. This fight could go either way,” Michael said.

The Cypriot striker cited the proceedings of his fight against Liam Harrison at ONE 156: Eersel vs. Sadikovic. Muangthai had Harrison on the ropes after scoring two knockdowns. Unfortunately, the British veteran knocked him down three times to snatch the victory.

After that victory, Harrison also earned a US$100,000 performance bonus and a title shot against ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao.

Likewise, Muangthai does have striking power but hasn’t knocked out anyone in his three previous victories in The Home of Martial Arts. In contrast, Michael hasn’t seen much of Kuzmin’s game, but what he does know about him is enough to consider him a threat.

“I think he will attack and punch Muangthai because that's the best thing to do against Muangthai. If Kuzmin lands solid punches with those four-ounce gloves, Muangthai will go down,” Michael said.

A victory by the Fight Club Archangel Michael representative puts him on a two-fight winning streak in ONE after his unanimous decision victory over Chris Shaw at ONE: FULL CIRCLE. It will also help him get more high-profile fights against the division’s top contenders.

Meanwhile, a win from Muangthai shakes off that defeat against Harrison and puts his quest for a title shot back on track. It could also earn him a shot against the other top bantamweight Muay Thai competitors.

With much at stake in this battle, expect Muangthai and Kuzmin to trade leather and lay everything on the line.
