ONE And MTGP UK Announce Partnership And Two Upcoming Road to ONE Tournaments

An exciting opportunity for Muay Thai fighters in the UK was announced this week by ONE Championship and MTGP UK. 

The Singapore-based martial arts organization has partnered with the combat sports promotion to bring two of its Road To ONE Muay Thai tournaments to the UK this year. 

The collaboration was established to promote the growth of Muay Thai in the UK, and ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong spoke of ONE’s continued focus on giving new and fresh talent around the world the opportunity to compete on its global stage when he made the news public. 

"I've known Philip [Tieu] for quite a while now, and I'm simply amazed at how much Muay Thai talent there is in the UK. That's why I'm so pleased to announce this partnership with MTGP UK,” the lifelong martial artist said. 

"ONE Championship remains committed to providing martial arts athletes on the regional scene a platform to showcase their talents, and to potentially earn a US$100,000 contract to compete in ONE Championship's international events.” 

ONE is the largest martial arts organization in the world and is one of the top-five global sports properties in terms of viewership and engagement, according to Nielsen. It broadcasts exciting events to more than 150 countries and boasts some of the finest combat sports talent in the world.

A connection between it and MTGP UK, one of Europe's most prestigious combat sports promotions, bodes well for the growth of Muay Thai in the UK and around the continent. That said, MTGP UK CEO Philip Tieu echoed Sityodtong’s enthusiasm when sharing the news. 

"I'm proud to announce our partnership with ONE Championship. MTGP will team up with ONE Championship to create the Road To ONE UK tournaments, where the best athletes in the UK can showcase their skills for an opportunity to win a six-figure contract with ONE Championship. This is a long-term relationship, which will elevate the UK fight scene and grow the sport of Muay Thai in a way we never thought was possible,” he said. 

"I truly believe the two companies are a perfect match and that by working with Chatri Sityodtong, it will only expand the sport of Muay Thai even further and take it to new heights.”
