Reinier De Ridder captured the ONE Middleweight Title after getting a submission win over Aung La N Sang last year. It was a huge win for De Ridder and now with 2020 in the books, he has his eyes set on 2021.

De Ridder sat down for an interview with ONE Championship last day where he talked about the possibilities of having a rematch with Aung La N Sang. He noted that it doesn’t make sense for him to give an immediate rematch to Aung La N Sang for the Middleweight title.

“I was saying for the entire week before the fight, I would never escape fighting [Aung La N Sang] twice in a row. But to be honest, the way this went down, it wasn’t really even a fight. To me, it doesn’t seem like the logical step to fight him straight away again. What I would suggest is for him to fight Ataides now. Make that happen soon, and I’ll fight the winner. [Beating Aung La N Sang again] is not a real goal or challenge for me right now. Maybe I could finish him sooner? In two minutes? How could I improve on this?” he said.

When asked about the possibility of fighting Aung La N Sang for the L?ight Heavyweight Title, De Ridder said that it is something that tempts him.

“That would entice me a little bit. Yeah, why not?” he said with a laugh.

Aung La N Sang, meanwhile, had noted that he is willing to go through contenders in 2021 to get a shot at the Middleweight title while also revealing his plan to defend the Light Heavyweight title in the New Year.
