Aung La N Sang shares his New Year Resolution for 2021 and best memory of 2020

Aung La N Sang had a setback in 2020 when he lost the ONE Championship Middleweight title to Reiner De Ridder at ONE: Inside the Matrix. Aung La N Sang suffered a first-round submission defeat against De Ridder which in turn snapped his seven-fight winning streak in the promotion as well.

The MMA superstar from Myanmar is eager to get back into the cage following the defeat and revealed in an interview with ONE Championship that he has certain goals for 2021.

“I never have New Year’s resolutions. I have goals that I set. My goal is to get my middleweight belt back, defend my light heavyweight belt, put on entertaining shows for the fans, and just be the best mixed martial artist I can be so that I can give back to Myanmar when I’m done,” he said when asked about his New Year Resolution for 2021.

Aung La N Sang also addressed the potential rematch with Reinier De Ridder and noted that he is ready to fight any contender.

“Getting my belt back is all that’s on my mind right now and giving Reinier [De Ridder] a whooping. If it’s not Reinier, then I really don’t care. I’ll take out all the contenders. Just line them up. It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m not set on Reinier. I’m set on anyone and everyone to get my belt back,” he added.

He also shared the best moment from 2020: the birth of his daughter. 

“My happiest memory was having my daughter, and watching her grow from a little newborn to now, already walking. And when I come home, she gives me the biggest smile. That’s the best thing about 2020. Having this coronavirus and having to stay home with her is probably the best thing about 2020,” he said.
