Liam “Hitman” Harrison will be on the cusp of win number 90 in his illustrious career when he steps into the ONE Circle to battle Muangthai PK.Saenchai at ONE 156: Eersel vs. Sadikovic, this Friday, 22 April.
While the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship is his goal, Harrison hasn’t earned a crack at Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s gold just yet. But a title shot will become a near-certainty if he can evade “Elbow Zombie’s” most famous weapon and score a win.
“I’ve got to stay sharp and switched on. But it’s not like I haven’t been against anyone who’s been trying to walk forward and elbow my head off before. For him to get close enough to elbow, he’s gonna have to walk through my punches, and I’m probably one of the hardest punchers in that division,” he said.
The Englishman is currently on a four-fight winning streak and has had two excellent performances in a row inside the ONE Circle. He knocked out Mohammed Bin Mahmoudi in the first round of their bout at ONE: A NEW TOMORROW in October 2020, and he followed that up a year later at Road to ONE, where he defeated Brayan Matias by decision.
“Hitman” holds a lot of confidence in his fists of steel, as they have helped him bring home 43 knockouts throughout his career.
“In these 4-ounce MMA gloves, anyone who is just going to walk forward toward me, they’re going to have to walk into absolute hell when I start unloading my hands and my power shots,” Harrison said.
This could spell trouble for Muangthai, despite his perfect 3-0 record in the ONE Circle thus far.
The winner of this bout will most likely get the next shot at the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title, so it's safe to say both men will use their best tools to their full potential.
