Indian Boxer Nutlai Lalbiakkima wins the IBA Intercontinental Title

History has been scripted as Indian Boxer Nutlai Lalbiakkima has won the IBA Intercontinental title. Nutlai, who hails from Mizoram went up against Sandeep Singh of Punjab at the Marine Pro Boxing Promotions event which was held in Mumbai today afternoon.

The IBA title was held by names like Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, and Roy Jones Junior many others. Nutlai, who hails from Mizoram, made headlines back in 2018 in the amateur circuit by defeating Olympic Gold Medalist and World Number 1 Hasanboy Dusmatov. He made his professional boxing debut recently at the Warrior Boxing Series hosted by Marine Pro Boxing Promotions and secured a first-round TKO victory as well.

He went up against Sandeep in the headlining fight of the event and secured the IBA Intercontinental Title at Minimumweight which was vacant with a win. 

Also on the card was the IBA Asia Flyweight title which was won by Vimal Punera. Vimal who hails from Uttarakhand defeated Hansraj of Uttar Pradesh in the co-main event fight to capture the title. Vimal came into the fight with a professional record of 4-1 to his name and was riding high on a winning streak.

Bikram Pariyar picked up a decision victory on the card when Aman Dilawar also picked up a win via TKO. Laldingliana of Mizoram who is the teammate of Nutlai, was also on the winning column when Payal Sharma got a win in the lone women’s bout of the day.
