Max Holloway produced a dominant performance at UFC Fight Island 7 and now, he has expressed his interest to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Holloway, who outclassed Calvin Kattar in the main event of UFC Fight Island 7, noted the same in the post-fight interview. Last day, Dana White had revealed that Khabib Nurmagomedov is willing to return if the Lightweight Division ‘can do something special’. The post-fight call out from Holloways comes right after this.
Interestingly, Holloway and Khabib were set to lock horns at UFC 223 but the fight was called off at the last minute due to weight-cut complications of Holloway. Khabib eventually went on to fight Al Iaquinta and secured a decision victory as well.

Max Holloway:
“I felt great. Blessed is blessed to have fans back, blessed to be the first card of the year. I found out I hit him 700 times or something. That's pretty cool. I was having the time of my life. I want legacy fights. Khabib said he wants something interesting... maybe we'll push it over the edge. At the end of the day, I'm not going to force someone to fight me. We'll see what happens,”
Carlos Condit:
“I feel good. I was stoked to get in there and finally face Matt. Standing across the cage from him was awesome. I had the hair standing up in the back of my neck, I was so stoked to get in there and get my hand raised. I’m very happy. I expected a little more back and forth on the feet, we ended up grappling quite a bit, but I’m not sad about the way that went because I got the better of those exchanges,”
Li Jingliang:
“I really expected to either knock him out in the first round or Santiago knocking me out, because he is such a powerful fighter. I would’ve actually preferred to go all three rounds to show off more of my skillset, but it feels great. Santiago is such an aggressive, intense fighter and we were prepared for him. The coach told me as soon as the fight began to match his level of intensity, to not back down. I just want to go home now, let my family know that I’m safe, because that’s what they are most concerned about. I’m really looking forward to just being home and enjoying it there,”
Alessio di Chirico:
“I’m sorry I’m repeating this so many times, but I won’t do an interview without my opponent. I don’t like the fact that only the winner is interviewed, because I come from three losses… I don’t think it’s good. I don’t like this.”
Punahele Soriano:
“It felt amazing. It was great to have the crowd there. It was empowering, especially after the win… I couldn’t control myself, I just kept yelling. I saw the crowd, I saw the commentators and I felt all that power. I feel like I black out in every fight and I really don’t know what happened. I trust my body and I trust my instincts. My body somehow just makes the proper corrections in every fight no matter what. I just trust that and I’m going to ride it out as long as I can,”
