MMA to WWE: Valerie Loureda makes history by signing with WWE

Bellator MMA Fighter Valerie Loureda has signed with the WWE. The announcement was first made by Loureda during her recent interview and was later confirmed by the WWE through a post on their official website.

The 23-year-old, who has been an active name in Bellator MMA, holds a professional MMA record of 4-1-0 to her name and is the first Cuban-American Woman in history so sign with the professional wrestling promotion.

“I am honored to become the first Cuban American woman in history to sign with the WWE. I come from a family of immigrants, now it’s my time to represent our Latin culture, I was destined for this. Thank you for this opportunity @WWE @WWENXT I will make you proud. AZUCAR! #305,” she wrote on her Twitter page.

Loureda had earlier attended the WWE tryout back in April and is expected to report to the WWE Performance Centre in July to being her training. Speaking about her move to WWE, Loureda noted that she is an entertainer.

"I'm an entertainer. I love glamour. I love production, I love storytelling. And when I saw the WWE, I realized this is everything I'm good at in one place. Not only that, but I saw the opportunity to be the first Cuban American woman to be a WWE superstar," she said during her interview with ESPN.

The MMA fighter also noted that she had big goals in the WWE and that the opportunities are limitless.

"I have big goals and I'm a little crazy. I just know what I'm gonna be able to do in the WWE. There's no limits. I'm limitless,” she added.

Loureda is not the first MMA fighter that is joining WWE as a long-list of names like Ronda Rousey, Matt Riddle, Sonya Deville among others. WWE had also recently signed Indian MMA Fighter Sanjana George to their developmental circuit as well.
