MMA India National Federation, under the leadership of President Sharif Bapu, hosted successful seminars on Anti-Doping, Refereeing, and Judging recently.
The free webinar on Anti-Doping in collaboration with the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) was held on 10 August 2021.
The seminar was conducted by Dr. Ankush Gupta, who works with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs New Delhi, and was attended by almost 70 members including coaches and athletes. The seminar was hosted by Mr. Bapu along with MMA India Secretary-General, Prasad Gaitonde
“The NADA Officer was quite impressed with our team members as they asked many questions about TUE & use of CBD Oil by the Athletes before the bouts. Thanks to IMMAF, we have more than 300+ people who have been Certified by ADEL WADA recently. I would like to add that one of our team members Kevin Alfred David whom we have appointed as the Anti-Doping Coordinator did a marvellous job in organizing the Webinar. At the end of the day, it is teamwork which counts,” Sharif Bapu noted in a statement to the official website of IMMAF.
Following this, the team hosted the National MMA Referee and Judge Certification seminar at the UFC Gym in Mumbai.
MMA India had recently won the most proactive Federation Award at the IMMAF 2020 Awards and the newly hosted seminars once again underline the efforts that the team is undertaking to build a strong foundation for the sport in India.
Mr. Sharif Bapu also thanked Kerrith Brown and Densign White for their support.
“Thanks to Sir Kerrith Brown & Sir Densign White for all the support they rendered to us. Special thanks to Sir Andrew Moshanov, without whom the grading system would have been a dream only but he helped us to fulfill this into a reality,” he added.
MMA India will now be heading to the Indian Open Amateur MMA Championship 2021 which will be held from 10 September 2021 at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
