Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao gives update on injury of Lito Adiwang

The matchup between Lito Adiwang and Jeremy Miado had an anti-climatic ending at ONE X when Adiwang twisted his knee. The fight was stopped and ruled in favour Miado via a technical stoppage and now, Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao has given an update on the injury of The Thunder Kid.

In a statement given to IB Times, Sangiao noted that Adiwang will be undergoing an MRI for his knee and noted that Adiwang was having the advantage in the fight.

“We had the advantage. His shots just were not connecting, but I also saw that some were hitting their mark which I think is why Miado’s straights and killer shots could not land cleanly. He could not set that one up because every time he would attempt the shot, Lito was ready to counter. When we were debriefing after the fight, Lito said that he felt something was wrong with his knee when he shot for a takedown in the second round. When he moved backwards, that was when it got worse,” Sangiao noted.

He further went on to add that the team is open to the challenges that are coming up next. 

“For us, we are never in the business of picking and choosing [our opponents]. Whoever ONE says we have to face, we are always ready for it. If that [Jeremy Miado rematch] is the fight that will be given to us, we will be ready,” Sangiao added.

When concluding, The Filipino noted that he was happy with the performance of the team at ONE X.

“We’re very, very happy with it. We celebrated our two victories there in Singapore. However, we still lost one though. But for us, that is still a major victory since all of our guys fought their best. Overall, we’re happy,” he concluded.
