Kavya Kirodian and Joseph Vanlalhruaia have confirmed two medals for Team India at the 2019 IFMA Asian Championship after entering the Finals of their respective categories.
Kavya, who fights in the Junior Female 57 KG category, fought against Noura Omar of UAE and came out with a 29-28 decision win to enter the finals. With this, she has confirmed a medal for India and will be fighting Mobina Ghanizadeh of Iran in the Finals on December 21, 2019.
Elsewhere, Joseph Vanlalhruaia secured a win in his semi-final matchup in the Senior Men’s 48KG category via a referee stoppage. Joseph’s win came against Iran’s Amir Zareei with the fight stopping due to a body injury that Joseph inflicted.
Joseph will now fight Naruephon Chittra of Thailand in the finals of the weight category on 21 December 2019 just like Kavya.
Elsewhere, Ishan Das suffered a decision defeat against Salam Alsuwaid of Iraq on the day with a score of 30-27. Vani, who fought in the Junior 60KG category suffered a Compulosary Count Limit Stoppage defeat against Maya Kalash of Lebanon as well. Naman Sharma and Sanskriti Rusia also suffered stoppage defeats at the event.
Meanwhile, Lalthasanga Lelhchhun, who had secured a win in his first round fight last day will be going up against Ahmad Bahman of UAE in the Quarter Final fight today while Abdul Hakeem will also be in action later today as he fights Samer Awwad of Jordan in a Quarter Final Clash.
