The ONE Strawweight division has been making the headlines for a long time now. The entry of Jarred Brooks has made matters more interesting and the trash talk of Brooks is something that has captured the attention of fans.
Reigning Strawweight champion Joshua Pacio is enjoying it as well. In his recent interview with SCMP MMA, the Team Lakay star noted that he understands what Brooks is doing but refused to engage with the American.
“I’m not annoyed with him. I understand what he’s doing. I understand the business side of this sport. I think he’s trying to get in my head. But no man, that’s your thing. Do your thing, and this is mine. I can’t do trash talking because this is my personality. I’m setting an example for the next generation here in my country. It’s all about the core values of martial arts. So just do his thing, whatever he wants. I think he’s just hyping the fans, and yeah, that makes this strawweight bout exciting. That’s just his personality. He’s a very exciting fighter,” Pacio said.

Brooks made a huge statement in his ONE Championship debut last year and stopped Lito Adiwang. He then went on to outclass Hiroba Minowa as well before calling out Pacio for a title fight.
Speaking further, Pacio added that he is on the constant lookout for improvement and believes that he has not reached his peak.
“I’m still growing, there’s a lot to improve. Every single day I’m getting better and better, like one percent. I think I’m not at my peak yet. That’s my goal, to improve every day, and if I do that I can defend my belt multiple times. If I get to my peak then I’m sure that I will be unstoppable,” he added.
