The dominance of Charles Oliveira in the UFC Lightweight division has already sparked a string of debates. Many fans are fantasizing about a potential fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Oliveira although ‘The Eagle’ is currently retired.

The latest name to voice his opinion on the potential showdown is UFC Commentator Joe Rogan. In one of the recent episodes of his podcast, Rogan detailed how Oliveira could be a threat to Khabib if the match does happen due to the high-level jiu-jitsu.

“The difference is that his level of Jiu-Jitsu is a leap higher than most people he’s competing against. He has the most submissions in the history of UFC. These fighters come close to beating Oliveira, but he finds a way to beat them, and the way he does it is so great. The way he beat Dustin Poirier, man, that choke was so f**king good, it was so good. I recognized this kid was talented, but then it was like was his Jiu-Jitsu was really good but his striking wasn’t good as his Jiu-Jitsu and slowly his Jiu-Jitsu and striking merged, where he is like equal and both of them, he is lethal in it, in striking and in Jiu-Jitsu,” Rogan noted.

He further went on to add that Khabib is also high-level submission artist although he is known for smashing people. This contrast of style between Khabib and Oliveira guarantees an interesting fight as per Joe Rogan. Before concluding he also went on to say that Khabib could smash or submit almost anybody, except Oliveira.

“Khabib could do that (smash or submit) to almost anybody except maybe Oliveira”, Rogan said.
