Ishika Thite secured a win in her last outing at Matrix Fight Night (MFN) when she edged out Naipunya Sunil. It was a strong comeback for Ishika after her debut defeat to Aarti Khatri and has set the tone for her upcoming fights in Matrix Fight Night.
Our friends over at The MMA Chat had Ishika Thite on the show recently where she opened up about the game plan that she had while heading into the fight against Naipunya.
Ishika noted that she was inspired by Holly Holm’s fight against Raquel Pennington at UFC 246 and added that she modelled her game plan around the same idea since Naipunya was a strong boxer.
“Just before my fight, I happened to see Holly Holm’s last fight in which she did a lot of clinch work and outsmarted the fighter. So I thought why not, if this fighter comes with a lot of quickness and lot of punches because I knew Naipunya is a good boxer and of course I cannot beat a boxer with boxing, of course not my boxing. So I was putting her away with my kicks and I held her against the cage, which was my plan. I wanted to put that guillotine but it kept on slipping,” Ishika noted.
In the interview, she also noted that she is ready to step back into the Matrix Fight Night cage while adding that she could probably be on the next fight card that happens among many other things. You can check out the full chat featuring Ishika on the video embedded above.
