Top-ranked Indian boxer Faizan Anwar secured another huge win this past weekend in Dubai as he defeated Viktor Plotnikov of Ukraine to remain undefeated. Faizan, who came into the fight with a professional record of 9-0 to his name, managed to outclass his Ukrainian counterpart and went home with a decision victory.

With the win, he has now improved his record to 10-0 and has cemented his spot on top of the rankings for India. Hailing from Kolkata, the 20-year-old Faizan started his professional boxing journey back in 2019 in Thailand and went on to secure nine wins in Dubai following this.

He has already fought five times in 2021 and saw him picking up wins against Evgenii Vazem, Justice Addy, Ricky Sismundo, Octavian Gratii, and now, Viktor Plotnikov.

Thanks to his impressive run, Faizan has positioned himself on top of the Welterweight rankings for India as per BoxRec ahead of names like Neeraj Goyat and Vaibhav Singh Yadav. He is also on top of the pound-for-pound rankings for India by Boxrec ahead of Neeraj Goyat, Vijender Singh, Brijesh Meena and WBC World Youth Champion Lalrinsanga Tlau.

Though professional is what Faizan is currently focusing on, he does have plans to explore the Olympic path and revealed the same recently in an exclusive interview with us.

Apart from Faizan, Indian boxer Digari Mahesh was also in action at the event promoted by D4G Promotions. Mahesh, however, suffered a stoppage defeat against undefeated Jordanian boxer Bader Samreen. You can see the complete results from the event below.
