WATCH: Daniel Cormier admits grabbing the towel in Buffalo during HOF Speech

Daniel Cormier was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame today and during the Hall of Fame speech, the former UFC Champion admitted to grabbing the towel during weigh-ins ahead of his fight with Anthony Johnson.

The fight between Cormier and Johnson happened at UFC 210 in New York and had caused a string of headlines. Cormier touched up on the subject during his Hall of Fame speech and admitted to grabbing the towel to make weight.

“Guys, I want to tell you something because I feel like right now is the time to be completely transparent. I think I may have grabbed the towel in Buffalo. I walk back to the back after missing weight by 1.2 pounds, it was 1.2 pounds. I tried to give it up, I had a pound to lose and they tried to get my wife to get me back into the tub and I said it is over. She told me, Daniel just take a hot bath. It was not that simple. I walk back and someone says me, DC do you remember the old wrestler trick. I said can you stand behind me because there is two. You can put your hands behind you and your partner can lift you up. He said no it’s the other one. Do you understand the level of ridiculousness in order for that to work? I look down and I could not believe my luck. I’m a lucky guy, even when I lose, the belt would somehow come back to me. I’m a lucky guy. I look down and the commissioners on the floor looking at the floor. There is a second lady and she is right next to him and I grab the towel. It is what is it. Rumble, I’m sorry my guy,” Daniel Cormier said.
