It’s been just over a year since Cleiton ‘Predator’ Silva shocked everyone by submitting Luan Santiago to become the BRAVE CF Lightweight champion at BRAVE CF 25.
Although the Brazilian was supposed to defend his title on multiple occasions after that, the pandemic played spoilsport. But now, the clouds have cleared and the stage is set for the first title defense of Cleiton as he is set to take on Amin Ayoub at BRAVE CF 44 in Bahrain on November 5, 2020.
The long one year gap had indeed frustrated the champion but he is grateful to be back in the cage after all.
Cleiton Silva: It was hard to train during a pandemic, but we kept at it. We were very frustrated that we could not fight before, but we understand the circumstances. I’m grateful that I get to finish the year fighting, so my training camp was very energetic, we were responsible and got through it unscathed, thank God.
Clieton comes into the fight on the back of a three-fight winning streak when Amin is also riding high on momentum with five wins in his last five fights. A war of words has also been initiated between the two and this has really fired up the Brazilian.
Cleiton Silva: He’s a talker, and he’s getting under my skin. That’s not a good thing for him. We’re here to really stamp him, to hurt him bad, and that’s what we’ll do. His biggest strength is his courage, because he’s courageous enough to accept a fight against me. He speaks a lot of s*it, so he must be very courageous. The fight ends with my arms raised; I don’t care how, if I knock him out, good. If I submit him, good too. I don’t care. I’m going to win this fight.
With the intensity at an all-time high, it is a matchup that would’ve thrived under the energy of the fans in the arena. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, does not permit the same but Cleiton is not worried about it.
Cleiton Silva: Even though it will be in an empty arena, I’m going to kick his ass, and everyone will hear me doing it. I’m going to beat the s*it out of this motherf*cker.
Though Amin is the immediate challenge for Cleiton, there is a lot of unfinished business for him in the division. One name in particular that stands out is Luan Santiago. A rematch between the two was booked by BRAVE CF but the same was called off after the pandemic hit. Now, Cleiton feels that Santiago should work his way to a rematch. Cleiton also feels that it is the superfights that he wants next.
Cleiton Silva: Fighting Luan ‘’Miau’’ again? Of course, but as long as he has the belt in the Super-Lightweight division. Otherwise, it makes no sense and there’s no point in it, because I beat him too fast. I would love to be involved in a super fight, a champion vs champion kind of fight. I would love to face any of the champions, either the Super Lightweight or even the Welterweight or Middleweight champions. Any of them, please BRAVE CF, give me a super fight
Beyond all this, Cleiton has a curse to overcome at the event. No champion in the BRAVE CF Lightweight division has successfully defended the title and if Cleiton defeats Amin on Thursday, he will be the first fighter to do so which further shoots up the stakes.
Cleiton Silva vs. Amin Ayoub will headline BRAVE CF 44 on November 5, 2020, in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the promotion has put together a stacked card for the event as well. What are your predictions? Let us know in the comments below.
