Aung La N Sang made a huge return last day when he knocked out Leandro Ataides at ONE: Battleground. After the matchup, Aung La had an interesting mention about Japanese MMA legend Yushin Okami and noted that he is indeed interested in sharing the ONE circle with Okami.
Shortly after the event, Okami took it to Twitter to take fuel the possibility and tweeted out the following.
“Tweet from last September. I have been eagerly awaiting a fight with him since the day I decided to move up to middleweight. Since then, nothing has changed in my mind. Aung La N Sang, I will beat you,” Okami noted on his page.
While Aung La agreed with the part about fighting, he had a certain problem with the tweet.
“@_Yushin_Okami_ it would be an honor to share the @ONEChampionship circle with you. Folded hands. But I don’t think you will beat me,” Aung La replied.
Okami then went on to congratulate the Burmese Python for the win and added that the results will be visible inside the ONE Championship circle.
“Congrats on your win tonight! I look forward to fighting you in the Circle Cage. The results will be there,” Okami Tweeted.
Aung La then closed the conversation with a Tweet of his own which read the following:
“Thank! Big fan of you and it will be an honor.,”
The 40-year-old Okami holds a professional record of 36-14 to his name and has fought in the UFC, Pride FC, WSOF, Pancrase, and many more before heading into ONE Championship. He has also shared the cage with some legendary names including Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen among others.
He last fought back in 2019 where he picked up a win against Agilan Thani at ONE: Century Part 1 which was also his first victory in ONE Championship.
Aung La N Sang meanwhile, is currently 27-12 in his professional career with his latest win coming against Ataides. He was also a two-division champion in ONE Championship before suffering two back-to-back defeats against Reinier De Ridder recently.
