Aung La N Sang says that he has no bad blood with Champion Reinier De Ridder
19 November 2021The rivalry between Aung La N Sang and Reinier De Ridder is hands down one of the most interesting storylines in ONE Championship at the moment. It started back in October 2020 when De Ridder challenged Aung La N Sang for the ONE Championship Middleweight Title.
In what proved to be a major upset, De Ridder managed to submit Aung La N Sang in the first round itself and dethroned the Burmese Python. Six months later, Reiner De Ridder stepped up on short notice to take up a Light Heavyweight Title fight against Aung La N Sang. It was a decision win for De Ridder this time around and the win made him a two-division champion in the promotion.

Despite the two major losses, Aung La notes that he has no bad blood with De Ridder. He revealed the same during his recent interview with SCMP MMA.
“I don’t – he might. My fans might have bad blood. I don’t. I just see it as a puzzle I have to solve, as somebody who’s going to make be a better person, a better mixed martial artist. I don’t care what people say. It doesn’t really bother me. I’ve got to be level-headed and a good person, so there’s no bad blood,” Aung La N Sang said during the interview.
He further went on to add that he was one of the most dominant champions in ONE Championship and that he is on his way to claim the title back from De Ridder.
“In ONE Championship history, I’m one of the most dominant champions. I would like them to give me a rematch. There’s two mindsets. When you’re defending [the title], your mindset is something. When you’re attacking, it’s a different mindset. My mindset is to get my belt back, to attack. If I were to be matched up with Reinier again, it would be a different fight for sure,” he added.
