Aung La N Sang made his return to the ONE Championship circle today at ONE: Battleground as he went up against Leandro Ataides in a Middleweight contest.

Aung La came out swinging in the first round but got taken down by Ataides. Though Aung La tried to escape, he gave up his back in the attempt. The Burmese Python managed to take things back to standing soon and chased the Brazillian with some beautiful striking before finishing with a knockout.

Aung La N Sang came into the fight on the back of two back-to-back defeats against Reinier De Ridder. Aung La lost the ONE Middleweight title and the ONE Light Heavyweight title as a result.

Leandro Ataides, meanwhile, came into the fight on the back of a defeat against Reinier De Ridder as well. The Brazilian, however, trained with De Ridder in the Netherlands before his showdown with Aung La N Sang at ONE: Battleground.

It would be interesting to see whether the winner will get a shot at the Middleweight title next or whether ONE Championship will line up something different.

ONE Battleground was headlined by the Muay-Thai Strawweight World Championship fight between Sam-A-Gaiyanghadao and Prajanchai PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym.

The card also featured the return of Victoria Lee who secured the first-round win. Also on the card was Ritu Phogat vs. Lin Heqin which ended in favor of the Indian MMA star. Ritu, who was coming off a defeat against Bi Nguyen, showcased a strong performance in the match against Heqin. She also ended the 11-fight winning streak of Lin Heqin with the win.

The debut of Jeremy Pacatiw was another major attraction on the card. The Team Lakay star went up against Chen Rui of China and took home a decision win.
