Asha "Knockout Queen" Roka will return from a two-year hiatus to face Alyse Anderson in an atom weight mixed martial arts bout at ONE X on Saturday, 26 March.
Roka’s last bout came against Gina Iniong at ONE: FIRE AND FURY in January 2020, but it didn’t finish in her favor. It was the second straight MMA defeat for the prominent Indian Boxing Champion, but “Knockout Queen” has used her time away from the Circle to adjust and get back on track.
Roka vs. Anderson is just another addition to a card so massive, which will be shown as a three-part extravaganza at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and celebrate ONE Championship's 10-year anniversary.
Roka said: “ONE X is a huge event, and I am glad to be part of an event of this magnitude. I have lost two fights, but I am still returning to the Circle. I must win this fight, so the pressure is there. I am working hard to win this match.”
Roka (four wins, two losses in mixed martial arts) has nothing but respect for Anderson, an American mixed martial artist with a record that's nearly identical (five wins and two losses).
Still, “Knockout Queen” expressed confidence about their matchup:
“[Anderson] is a great fighter. I think her ground game will be strong. She would try to take me to the ground. That’s why I am working a lot on my takedown defense and ground game because I am not too worried about the standing game.”
While her recent contests didn't go to plan, the Indian athlete is determined to live up to her nickname, which was bestowed after her nine-second KO of Anjela Pink in 2017.
Roka added: “I always try for a knockout. My last two opponents were great fighters because of the experience under their belt. To compete against Alyse Anderson, I will have to give my best and try to punch well so that I can get a knockout win.”
