What should be next for Angela Lee after ONE X? Here are the possibilities

Angela Lee continued her dominance in the ONE Atomweight division with a submission win against Stamp Fairtex at ONE X. Now the question arises: who can stop her?

The win in the main event of ONE X

In the main event of ONE X, reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee powered through a rough first round to come back and defeat ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Champion Stamp Fairtex.

Lee stormed out of the gates after the opening bell, forcing Stamp on the back foot. That turned out to be a mistake, as Stamp struck her with several knees from the clinch position. A left hook to the body then had Lee reeling across the Circle as Stamp looked to finish, but the defending World Champion was able to recover and make it to the second round.

From there, it was all Angela Lee, as the Singaporean-American superstar took the Thai fighter to the mat at will, threatening with a variety of submissions. After taking Stamp’s back, Lee flattened her out and snuck an arm under the neck to force the tap.

The biggest challenge till date

Stamp Fairtex was considered to be one of the biggest challenges till date for Lee at Atomweight. The two-year gap that Lee took for pregnancy was also a talking point heading into the fight with many concluding that Stamp could be the one to dethrone Lee.

Though the first-round had its fair share of moments for Stamp, Lee turned to her experience and pulled off a great submission to end the fight and retain the title. While Stamp might’ve suffered the loss, she did give Lee a great challenge as most people predicted.

What next at Atomweight?

It would be safe to say that Angela Lee has cleaned up most of the ONE Atomweight division. There are, however, some names that is yet to cross paths with Lee. One such name would be Ritu Phogat who was the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Finalist. The Indian MMA star suffered a loss to Stamp Fairtex in the final and has been vocal about her desires to win the title.

Seo Hee Ham who outclassed Denice Zamboanga at ONE X is probably the front-runner to fight Angela Lee next. She has plenty of experience on her resume and would be an interesting challenge for the reigning champion. Jihin Radzuan is slowly rising up the ranks and so is Angela’s own sister Victoria Lee.

Another shot at Strawweight?

One more option that Angela Lee has in front of her is a move to the ONE Strawweight division. It is something that she has tried out in the past but it did not end up well for her. But considering her performance against Stamp Fairtex at ONE X. It would make sense for her to have another go at the Strawweight division.
