Alexa Grasso has been a mainstay in the UFC for some time now. The Mexican currently holds a professional MMA record of 13-3 to her name and is on an impressive two-fight winning streak.

It has been almost a decade since Grasso made her professional MMA debut and in a recent interview with MMA Mania, the Flyweight star revealed that she decided to become a fighter after being inspired by Gina Carano.

“Gina Carano was the first female athlete I saw fighting,” Grasso told MMAMania.com. “I knew then that I wanted to do this. And GSP [Georges St-Pierre] is my top role model ever! There’s been so many [learning experiences] and I’m still learning. But, the only thing I can say is that hard work pays off. Anything you want in life you have to work as hard as possible until you reach it. Never settle for less. You can always be better,” she said.

Grasso also went on to note that she is building herself towards a title shot in the Flyweight division which is currently dominated by Valentina Shevchenko.

“My goals for 2022 are to win all my fights in a blunt way to meet all requirements to be in line for a title shot. I’m not the matchmaker, but I hope to be pretty close to it after this next fight,” she added.
