ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan Haggerty and ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 have both responded to Japanese striker Yuki Yoza's callout following his impressive victory at ONE Friday Fights 116 on July 18.
The 27-year-old Japanese fighter defeated #3-ranked contender and former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus via unanimous decision at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium, scoring a crucial knockdown in the second round to secure his second consecutive ONE Championship victory.
Immediately following his triumph, Yoza issued a bold challenge to both reigning champions during his post-fight interview.
"I can fight Superlek, but I just defeated #3-ranked Petchtanong Petchfergus. So, I have the license to challenge Jonathan Haggerty as well. But whoever ONE Championship gives me, I will fight," Yoza stated.
Haggerty was the first to respond, posting an elaborate acceptance on Instagram that praised Yoza's performance while welcoming the challenge.
"Congratulations on your performance Yuki Yoza — that was world-class. You showed composure, timing, and real skill under pressure. You've earned your shot. I look forward to the challenge," Haggerty wrote.
The British champion didn't stop there, building anticipation for a potential super-fight between the two kickboxing stars.
"This isn't just a fight — this is a moment. A clash of styles, of countries, of champions in their prime. Let's give the world something unforgettable. ONE Championship, Chatri Sityodtong — send the contracts. Let's make history, I'm waiting!" he declared.
Superlek's response on Facebook was characteristically brief but menacing, offering just seven words that sent a clear message to the Japanese challenger.
" I'll become your nightmare. I'm ready now," the Thai champion stated.
With both champions accepting the challenge, the ball is now in ONE Championship’s court to decide which blockbuster showdown to book first.
