Indian MMA fighter Vikas Singh Ruhil is all set to make history by becoming the first Indian fighter to compete under the PFL banner.
Vikas, who trains out of Team Relentless in Mumbai under Coach Jitendra Khare, will be going up against James Gonzalez of the United States. Vikas was initially scheduled to fight Igeu Kabesa in a featherweight contest at the event which happens on March 4, 2023.
Kabesa, who hailed from South Africa, was on an impressive three-fight winning streak. He holds a record of 15-2 to his name and has 10 finishes to his name. He was last seen in action at EFC 99 where he secured a first-round TKO finish over Bradley Swanepoel. Prior to this, he had two rear-naked choke finishes in EFC over Nerik Simoes and Ashley Calvert respectively. He made his professional MMA debut back in 2013 and has been competing in the African circuit ever since. However, he reportedly faced visa issues due to which a late replacement was found in James Gonzalez.
Vikas, on the other hand, will be making his return after a long gap of 2.5 years. The Indian MMA star is riding high on a seven-fight winning streak and last fought at Matrix Fight Night 4. He outclassed Kuldeep Singh Sekhon in his last fight and before this, he had wins over Vikas Dahiya and Rakesh Ahlawat.
Vikas has been a mainstay in the Indian MMA circuit for a long time and will be looking to make a mark for India at PFL by winning a contract.
