ONE World Title Shot On The Line As Bampara Kouyate Faces Thai Veteran shadow

A potential shot at ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai awaits the victor when #2-ranked Bampara Kouyate squares off against #3-ranked Shadow Singha Mawynn at ONE Fight Night 35 this Saturday, 6 September.

The high-stakes featherweight Muay Thai encounter pits two contrasting fighters against each other, with championship implications hanging in the balance for both men.

Shadow Singha Mawynn represents the epitome of Thai fighting experience. At 25 years old, he has accumulated nearly 100 professional fights throughout his career. His 5-1 ONE Championship record demonstrates his ability to compete at the highest level.

Kouyate acknowledges the formidable challenge his opponent presents.

"He's a very strong fighter. He has strong kicks, good hands, also. He's very powerful. He's a technical fighter. He's top three in ONE Championship, so obviously he's a good fighter. Everyone in the division is good," the 30-year-old Malian-Frenchmanstriker said.

The model-turned-fighter has proven his own credentials through impressive TKO victories over Luke Lessei and Jo Nattawut, establishing himself as a serious title threat.

Kouyate approaches this bout with a tactical mindset, understanding that both fighters will attempt to neutralize each other's strengths while exploiting weaknesses.

"I'm gonna adapt my style to his style. For sure, for him, it's gonna be the same. He's gonna try to work on my weakness, and I'm gonna try to work on his weakness. So it's a chess game, it's always the same. We all have weaknesses, we all have advantages," he said.

Kouyate remains confident in his ability to secure victory through various methods available in Muay Thai competition.

"Actually, I don't know, but I think I can stop him or win by unanimous decision. In Muay Thai, you have a lot of techniques, so it could be elbows, could be punches, could be leg kicks, a lot of things," he explained.

ONE Fight Night 35 will be broadcast live on JioHotstar and Star Sports Select 2 at 6:30 a.m. IST on Saturday, 6 September.
