Mandy Bohm overtakes Sterling as Best Actor: Fans react to UFC Charlotte

Fans are not happy with Mandy Bohm.

After one of the most bizarre fights in recent memory, Mandy Bohm will depart UFC Charlotte with a victory over Ji Yeon Kim on her record.

The strange incidents started when referee Larry Carter docked Kim a point for kicking Bohm off of her at the end of the round. Carter penalised Kim and deducted a point from the scoresheets because the kick was made much later than the horn had sounded.

Despite having a solid first two rounds, Kim came out strong in the third, probably aware that the point deduction may cost her the victory. She then pushed Bohm up against the cage as she prepared to strike.

Bohm eventually fell to the ground with her head bowed and a hand resting on the mat. At that point, Kim unleashed a knee that landed flush on Bohm's head, forcing the referee to stop play once more due to a further illegal strike.

Bohm was certainly injured by the shot that was fired, and replays revealed that she was holding her hand down as the knee hit the ground. The ringside doctor then examined Bohm, who had stated that the illegal knee had left her unable to see clearly.

A short while later, Carter declared the bout over in writing, but not before deducting Kim another point for the improper knee strike. Carter finally decided to declare it an unintended illegal knee after spending several minutes reviewing replays, allowing the judges to award points.

The final score was 28-27 for Bohm on two scorecards and 28-27 for Kim on the third. Bohm was able to prevail with that, and the third-round fight ended at 1:55.
