UFC 284 delivered some big action for MMA fans. The event featured a number of exciting fights, including two spectacular finishes by Josh Culibao of the Philippines and Loma Lookboonmee of Thailand, two of the best MMA fighters on the planet.

The event was capped off by an instant classic between the two best MMA fighters on the planet, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski.

Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski put up a fantastic back-and-forth exhibition of the highest calibre skills in their contest for the UFC lightweight title and the top spot in the pound-for-pound rankings. The instant classic demonstrated the athletes' weaknesses as well as their strengths. After five rounds, the judges decided the winner, and Makhachev kept the UFC lightweight championship.

"This was a very good fight. He was a tough opponent and I need this to become a better fighter. I showed why I'm number one. He has good striking and grappling skills. You like it or you don't, I am the best fighter in the world right now. Thank you!,” Islam said after the fight.

Fighting against styles can be thrilling, and Yair Rodriguez's inventive striking against Josh Emmett's powerful punching stood up to the promise. They switched positions and collided on the canvas in the second round, where Rodriguez was able to apply a triangle and secure the tap.

"It means a lot, I've been dreaming of this moment for so many years, since I was a kid. I thank UFC for this opportunity, they believed in me since day one. We're a family, we're a team, and I'm glad to have been a part of this family for the past 10 years,” Yair noted.
