Title Contenders Collide As Championship Stakes Reach Boiling Point At ONE Fight Night 34

ONE Fight Night 34: Eersel vs. Jarvis has received two explosive additions that promise to deliver championship-level excitement when the event broadcasts live from Bangkok's historic Lumpinee Stadium on Saturday, 2 August.

The card will feature a highly anticipated featherweight MMA rematch between Garry Tonon and Shamil Gasanov, alongside a heavyweight MMA showdown between Ben "Vanilla Thunder" Tynan and Kirill Grishenko.

Tonon and Gasanov's rivalry stems from their memorable 2023 encounter at ONE Fight Night 12, where the American BJJ icon overcame early adversity to secure a second-round kneebar victory, handing the Russian grappler his first professional defeat. Since then, both fighters have remained active and dangerous.

Tonon captured another submission win over former two-division champion Martin "The Situ-Asian" Nguyen in January 2024, while Gasanov has stormed back with four consecutive victories against elite competition.

The winner of this rematch could potentially earn the next shot at Tang Kai's ONE Featherweight MMA World Championship, adding significant stakes to an already compelling matchup between two of MMA's most skilled submission specialists.

The heavyweight battle between Tynan and Grishenko presents an intriguing clash of styles and ambitions. The Canadian-born, American-trained Tynan enters with an unblemished record and perfect finishing rate, with nearly all victories coming in the opening round. His combination of wrestling prowess and finishing ability has positioned him as a potential future champion.

Grishenko brings world-class wrestling credentials and newly discovered striking power to the contest. Despite falling short against Anatoly Malykhin in a 2022 interim title bid, the towering Belarusian has rebounded with two straight wins, including a recent leg kick stoppage of Mauro Cerilli.

With current heavyweight champion "Reug Reug" Oumar Kane potentially eyeing a Malykhin rematch, both Tynan and Grishenko view this bout as their opportunity to establish themselves as the division's next title contender.

ONE Fight Night 34 will be broadcast live on JioHotstar and Star Sports Select 2 at 6:30 a.m. India Standard Time (IST) on Saturday, 2 August.
