When Regian Eersel and George Jarvis first met, the title contest was over before it truly began. The rematch, however, is shaping up to be one of the most captivating lightweight Muay Thai title fights in recent memory.
The two-sport ONE World Champion defends his ONE Muay Thai Lightweight World Title gainst the Englishman at The Inner Circle 33 on Friday, October 2, live in Asia primetime via live.onefc.com.
Jarvis, 26, has spent every session since that August 2025 defeat rebuilding and preparing for exactly this moment. The Lumpini Crawley product carries a 28-5 striking record and a 6-2 ONE record into the rematch.
Eersel, 33, is under no illusions. The Surinamese superstar, who carries a 65-5 striking record with 29 finishes and a 14-1 ONE record, knows that a motivated challenger with a point to prove is a dangerous one.
"I expect a tougher fight because it's a rematch for him, and I think he's double motivated. He can fight for the belt again," he said.
Yet for all the respect Eersel carries for Jarvis' preparation, the Sityodtong Amsterdam product believes the memory of their first encounter works in his favor as much as it does against him.
"And I think his strength now is he's studying me more, and he felt my power already. So he knows what he's facing. But at the same time, that's also his weakness. Because I think it's also in the back of his head that I KO'd him, so he has to be extra careful," he explained.
One of the most dominant champions in ONE history, Eersel has built his reign on relentless pressure and championship-round dominance that has broken every opponent he has faced.
Against Jarvis on October 2, the formula remains unchanged.
"The game plan is the same game plan as before. [I'm] putting the pressure on, being smart, making my points, hurting him a couple of times, demolishing him and, in the championship rounds, I'm putting up the pace, as I always do," he added.
