Superlek Kiatmoo9 has become one of the darlings of combat sports. His sterling performances have taken him to new heights.

And his next opportunity comes on Sunday, March 23, when he unifies his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title with interim king Nabil Anane at ONE 172 at Super Saitama Arena in Japan.

The rise in stardom has come as a shock to the Thai phenom, who tries to stay humble with his increasing notoriety.

“I never thought I’d be this famous. I have to thank ONE for giving me the opportunity to compete in this promotion. If you ask me how I deal with the growing fame, I just act natural. I’m not the person to get carried away by the spotlight and fame,” Superlek told ONE.

The two-sport, two-division ONE World Champion cites joining ONE Championship as the catalyst to his fame.

It gave him a global platform to compete against the very best strikers in the world, and with each victory, his status grew.

As he became arguably the greatest pound-for-pound striker on the planet, new opportunities came along with it. And Superlek has taken full advantage to help himself and the next generation of Muay Thai stars.

“I have my own boxing gym, MC Superlek, in Nonthaburi. I want everyone to come and learn Muay Thai or work out,” Superlek said.

“I want to pass on my kicking skill and additional techniques to young students who come to learn because if you go up there and only use kicks, your opponent will read your movement like an open book.”

Superlek has defined himself as a leader in and out of the ring. As he gives back to the sport that has changed his life, his legacy adds another chapter on March 23.

ONE 172: Rodtang vs. Takeru airs live on Sunday, March 23, from Japan on global pay-per-view via watch.onefc.com.
