Suchika Tariyal Makes Weight But Bout Moves to Catchweight at BRAVE CF 104

The women’s strawweight clash between Suchika Tariyal and Kinga Jendrasik has officially been adjusted after the weigh-ins at BRAVE CF 104 in Belgrade. Tariyal opens the fight night entering the bout with a perfect 2-0 professional MMA record, but her reputation was forged long before she stepped into the cage.

An eight-time Judo National Champion of India, she is also a Commonwealth and South Asia Games Judo Champion. Adding to her elite pedigree, Tariyal captured gold at the 2024 JJIF Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, underlining her dominance on the mat and her readiness for the evolving demands of mixed martial arts. She represents Soma Fight Club and Lion War Club, Haryana, two gyms that have steadily built a reputation for producing high-level combat athletes.

Tariyal successfully hit the mark at 52.32 kilograms, making the strawweight limit without issue and reaffirming her professionalism ahead of one of the biggest fights of her young career. However, her opponent Jendrasik came in heavy at 54.12 kilograms, missing the contracted strawweight limit.

As a result, the bout will now proceed at a 54.12 kg catchweight, with Jendrasik forfeiting 40 percent of her guaranteed purse as a penalty for missing weight.

For Tariyal, the situation adds another layer of adversity. The Indian standout, an eight-time national judo champion and unbeaten professional, now faces an opponent entering the cage heavier than originally agreed. Despite the setback, the fight remains on the BRAVE CF 104 card, and Tariyal will look to maintain focus as she continues her rise on the global stage.

For Jendrasik, the penalty serves as a costly consequence, but the opportunity remains to make a statement inside the cage.
