The 4th Sub-Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championships began Thursday with more than 80 bouts at Galgotias University, showcasing the energy and determination of India’s youngest fighters.
The weeklong tournament, organized by the Boxing Federation of India, serves as a key platform for grassroots talent. Haryana’s girls and the Services Sports Control Board’s boys enter as defending champions.
In the girls’ division, Hitaish Nahar of Himachal Pradesh, Garima of Haryana and Naomi Kom of Manipur registered commanding wins. Maanyata Chettri of Sikkim and Lavanya Patil of Goa scored clean sweeps, while walkovers advanced Vaidehi Chaudhari of Gujarat and Ekampreet Kaur of SSCB.
For the boys, Aryan Shekhawat of Rajasthan, Rehan Ansari of Bihar and Anmol Sharma of Himachal Pradesh stood out with confident performances.
The championships will run through Aug. 13, with boxers from across the country competing for medals and national recognition.
