Thai megastar Stamp Fairtex will make her long-awaited return to action after more than two years when she faces Japanese kickboxing ace Kana Morimoto at ONE 173 on November 16 in Tokyo, Japan, at Ariake Arena.
The former three-sport ONE World Champion deliberately sought out this challenge against the four-time K-1 Champion for her comeback bout in a three-round atomweight kickboxing contest.
For Stamp, this matchup represents the kind of test she craves after rehabbing a serious knee injury that forced her to relinquish her ONE Atomweight MMA World Title.
"The reason I accepted the fight with Kana is that I feel she is the best in kickboxing in Tokyo, in Japan. I feel it's a challenge. Whether I win or lose, there's no harm in fighting her. I feel that fighting someone great is always a good thing," Stamp explained.
The 27-year-old from Fairtex Training Center enters this bout riding a four-fight winning streak. Her last appearance came in September 2023 when she claimed the ONE Atomweight MMA World Title with a third-round TKO victory over Ham Seo Hee.
Now, Stamp has turned her analytical eye toward breaking down the 33-year-old Japanese striker, who claimed her first promotional victory against Moa Carlsson in January 2025.
"If I had to analyze Kana, her strength is her speed, like her one-two combos and her in-and-out movement. As for her weakness, when she moves in and out quickly, she doesn't always protect herself. I might be able to use a sweeping kick or something to interrupt her," Stamp said.
The Thai star identified specific threats from Morimoto's striking arsenal while revealing the one technique that concerns her most.
"Her most dangerous weapons, I feel, are probably her punches and the calf kicks she has, because all Japanese fighters have those. I'm only scared of one move, the spinning back kick," Stamp admitted.
With Morimoto bringing a 23-6 career record into the Circle, this atomweight kickboxing clash promises fireworks between two elite strikers separated by different combat sports philosophies and approaches.
