Indian MMA veteran Srikant Sekhar has officially announced his retirement from professional MMA following his defeat to Pakistani star Rizwan Ali at BRAVE CF 92 in Bahrain. The fight ended in the first round, with Rizwan delivering on his promise of a knockout after previously defeating Srikant at BRAVE CF 85.
In a heartfelt post-fight speech, the 33-year-old Srikant reflected on his 13-year-long career that saw him become one of the pioneers of Indian MMA. With a legacy that helped raise the profile of the sport in his country, Srikant expressed gratitude to BRAVE Combat Federation for the opportunity to compete on the global stage.
“There are ups and downs in the game. I have died by the sword, and I have lived by the sword. I’m 33 years old and I’ve been fighting for 13 years, but it does not feel the same anymore. I think it’s time for me to hang up the gloves, and I’m glad I’m doing it at BRAVE Combat Federation,” said Srikant, leaving his gloves in the cage as a symbolic gesture of his retirement.
Srikant’s retirement marks the end of a significant chapter for Indian MMA. His dedication and pioneering spirit have inspired many fighters in India and beyond. Despite the loss, his contributions to the sport will be remembered, and his legacy as one of the country’s top fighters is firmly established.
As the curtain falls on his career, Srikant leaves behind a trail of inspiration, and the MMA world bids farewell to one of its most respected and dedicated warriors.
