Third-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender Shadow Singha Mawynn faces his toughest test yet when he defends his spot in the top five against the towering Mohamed Younes Rabah in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 33 on 12 July at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium.
The Thai knockout artist enters the crucial battle riding tremendous momentum from a five-bout winning streak.
Shadow's most impressive performance came at ONE Friday Fights 100 in March, where he knocked out Hassan Vahdanirad to earn a six-figure contract with ONE Championship. Now he looks to build on that momentum in his U.S. primetime debut while inching closer to a crack at the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title.Shadow remains unfazed by the significant height disadvantage he'll face against the towering Algerian.
"I don't think I'll have any problems facing a bigger opponent. Mohamed is both big and skilled, which makes it a good challenge," Shadow said. "When we reach the point of fighting top-tier opponents like him, we have to give it our all."
Standing in his way is the 6-foot-2 Algerian, who moved up to featherweight after suffering his first and only professional loss to former ONE World Title challenger Saemapetch Fairtex in February 2024.
Rabah looked strong in his new weight class with a victory over Eddie Abasolo last November. The Thai striker has identified his most dangerous weapon for neutralizing Rabah's size advantage."As for my advantage over Mohamed, I'm not entirely sure yet; I'll have to wait and see on fight night. But if you ask about my most dangerous weapon in this fight, it would probably be my elbows," he explained.
Shadow acknowledges the unique challenges this fight presents.
"The chance to win by KO depends on the timing in the match,” he finished, “and whether we can capitalize on opportunities.”
ONE Fight Night 33 will be broadcast live on JioHotstar and Star Sports Select 2 at 6:30 a.m. India Standard Time (IST) on Saturday, 12 July.
