UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley has not issued a challenge to Alexander Volkanovski, but he's confident in his ability to secure a victory if they were to cross paths in the future.

'Sugar' O'Malley recently claimed the championship title in a spectacular showdown at UFC 292, where he faced long-reigning bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. Prior to this event, Sterling had hinted at a potential move up to featherweight to challenge titleholder Alexander Volkanovski, a prospect that stirred significant interest among fans.

However, Sean O'Malley's victory in Boston last month reshaped the landscape of potential matchups. The newly crowned bantamweight champion has since hinted at a possible rematch with Marlon Vera rather than an immediate venture into the featherweight division to take on Alexander Volkanovski.

Nevertheless, O'Malley firmly believes that he possesses the skills to secure a knockout victory over the Australian champion should the opportunity arise. While he is not pushing for the bout to happen in the immediate future, he envisions a potential clash with Volkanovski either next year or the year after.

During a recent episode of The BroMalley Podcast, O'Malley discussed the prospect of a superfight against Volkanovski. He conveyed his thoughts on the matter, emphasizing that while he is not currently pursuing the fight, he holds the belief that he could secure a knockout victory.

"I’m not saying I wouldn’t fight Volk, I’m just being very honest," O'Malley stated candidly during the podcast discussion about a potential future bout with Alexander Volkanovski. "It’s a very, very, very difficult fight. Do I believe I could knock him out? 100%. I believe I can knockout anybody around 135, 145. 155 might be tougher, might have to put on some LBs."

He added, "But, Volk’s a very difficult fight. I’m not saying I’ll never fight him, but that’s not what I want next. Maybe a year, two years."
