ONE Middleweight MMA Division Sees Zebaztian Kadestam Face Aung La N Sang

The middleweight division will witness a changing of the guard at ONE Fight Night 36 when former ONE Welterweight MMA World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam makes his weight-class debut against retiring legend Aung La N Sang on 4 October.

The 40-year-old Myanmar icon will conclude his illustrious career against the Swedish striker, who brings seven finishes in the promotion to this emotional encounter.

Aung La N Sang's retirement represents the end of an extraordinary era for Asian MMA. The former two-division ruler holds 15 ONE victories with 13 finishes and 30 career wins overall, establishing himself as Myanmar's greatest martial arts ambassador during his legendary tenure.

Based in Florida and representing Kill Cliff FC, the former ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion has chosen to face a dangerous opponent for his farewell performance.

The 34-year-old Kadestam enters this middleweight debut riding a three-fight winning streak highlighted by his spectacular knockout of Croatian superstar Roberto Soldic.

Despite their friendship outside the cage, Kadestam maintains his aggressive approach for this significant bout.

"I'm gonna be sticking to [my knockout power] in this fight against Aung La. It should be better. Of course, I'm always aiming for that knockout, but we will see what happens. But the goal is the knockout," Kadestam stated with characteristic directness.

The Swedish fighter acknowledges both the honor and responsibility of participating in such a momentous occasion.

"For this fight, everything has been going to plan. Weight, training, eating, and mental. I cannot wait, and I'm honored to be part of this important fight that will be Aung La N Sang's retirement fight," Kadestam explained.

Their mutual respect promises to create compelling drama while maintaining competitive intensity.

"And I'm sure he is happy to be facing someone like me. Two good fighters, two friends, one winner. Especially with us being friends, I'm sure the fans are gonna enjoy this one," he said.

ONE Fight Night 36 will be broadcast live on JioHotstar and Star Sports Select 2 at 6:30 a.m. IST on Saturday, 4 October.
