Indian MMA Fighter and Manipur’s Roshan Mainam is all set to train at the UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai.
Roshan, who was last seen fighting at ONE Championship, has not competed since 2021. He revealed exclusively to LockerRoom that he has been going through some issues in his personal life. Roshan’s father passed away shortly after he returned to India and he also had to go through a respiratory infection which slowed down his recovery.
He also revealed that the crisis in Manipur forced him to tone down his gym RMX MMA Manipur. Training under Coach Vishal Seigell at KOI Combat Academy, Roshan Mainam revealed that he was in touch with Somesh Kamra, who helped him through the process.
Born and brought up in Manipur, Roshan made his professional MMA debut in 2016. Before this, he gained skills in wrestling as well. Roshan fought in the Super Fight League four times before getting selected for the EVOLVE MMA through their selection trials.
Roshan was able to secure a place in the EVOLVE MMA Team from a long list of fighters who took part in the trials. After this, in 2019, Roshan made his ONE Championship debut and went on to build a three-fight winning streak with all three wins coming via submission.

His last fight in the promotion came against Gurdarshan Mangat in 2021. Roshan suffered a decision loss in this short-notice fight and after this, he returned to India.
The world-renowned organization has announced its fifth UFC Academy Combine, an exclusive platform where top MMA prospects to showcase their technical prowess and physical abilities for a chance at a full scholarship to the UFC Academy.
Scheduled to take place on March 21-22 at the prestigious UFC Performance Institute (UFC PI) in Shanghai, China, the fifth UFC Academy Combine will see the Indian fighters and other invitees undergo rigorous testing across 12 categories, covering aspects such as wrestling, grappling, striking, and various physical attributes. A meticulous scoring system will be employed to evaluate each fighter, culminating in an overall UFC Academy Combine ranking.
The top performers will be considered for a full scholarship to the UFC Academy.
