I’m Sure I Can Knock Him Down: Rodtang Ready For Lasiri

ONE Fight Night 4: Abbasov vs. Lee is loaded with the organization’s finest world-class athletes.

But in the co-main event of the 19 November show, a Muay Thai World Champion vs. World Champion match will take place when Rodtang Jitmuangnon defends his ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title against strawweight king Joseph Lasiri.

After analysing the bout, Rodtang understands why Lasiri wanted this challenge, and this is a contest that amped up the Thai standout to get back to action after withdrawing from the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix.

“If I were him, I’d do the same. He had already lost to many people in the flyweight division before. So, I think it is his determination to challenge himself to win in this division. If you lose to one opponent every time, then you definitely want to beat that guy some day. I understand his feelings,” Rodtang said.

“Joseph has fought many elite Thai fighters. He used to train Muay Thai in Thailand. Another one is his agility, which I can't underestimate. As for his weakness, I think my strikes are heavier than his. If we trade, I'm sure I can knock him down.”

Rodtang is a cunning fighter. Everything the fan-favorite does is always premeditated. So, next Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, he predicts a showstopping knockout of his challenger. And, while he isn’t taking Lasiri lightly, he has his sights set on more gold in ONE.

“I expect to knock him out in round three. I want to knock him out with a high kick. But it would be tricky because he is too tall to reach. So, I think I'd knock him out with my killer punch and elbow instead,” Rodtang said.
