From ONE World Champion To Dad: ‘Reug Reug’ Oumar Kane Embraces Fatherhood

ONE Heavyweight MMA World Champion "Reug Reug" Oumar Kane has added another incredible chapter to his remarkable career, welcoming his first child - a baby girl - shortly after making history as the first-ever African ONE World Champion.

The 33-year-old Senegalese fighter scripted history in November 2024 when he defeated Anatoly Malykhin by split decision to claim heavyweight gold.

Now, as he prepares to defend his crown in a rematch at ONE 173 on 16 November in Tokyo, Japan, Kane has an even greater motivation driving him forward.

"I've got a baby now, I'm a father. It's a baby girl. I'm very happy now that I'm a father. I said, 'Thank you, God. You gave me a baby.' I am very, very happy. I won [against Malykhin], and after that, I had a baby," Kane said.

The timing couldn't be more perfect for the heavyweight king, who began his martial arts journey with Senegalese wrestling before building an impressive 7-1 ONE record with 4 finishes.

Kane's aspirations as a father extend beyond just providing financially, as he hopes to inspire his daughter through his accomplishments.

"I want my daughter to know her dad is a warrior and one of the greatest combat sports athletes in history," he declared.

However, balancing championship responsibilities with fatherhood presents unique challenges.

Kane currently trains in Dubai, requiring significant time away from his growing family.

"It's hard, as I train in Dubai. Being away from my family to chase greatness, I have so much to achieve with ONE Championship that I just have to juggle these elements of my life until the time is right to hang up the gloves," he admitted.

Despite the difficulties, becoming a father has only intensified Kane's dedication to excellence.

"If you know me, you know I train, eat, and sleep. This is my life. But now, providing for my daughter is even more important," Kane said.
