Jonathan Di Bella Conquers Zhang Peimian Again In Five-Round Classic

Lumpinee Stadium staged another world-class night on 17 July as The Inner Circle 22 and ONE Friday Fights 162 delivered three fights worth remembering. Jonathan Di Bella led the way — retaining the ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title with a unanimous decision over "Fighting Rooster" Zhang Peimian and going 2-0 in their rivalry.

Zhang came prepared. A right hook rocked Di Bella in round three. A crescent kick to the midsection slowed him in the fourth. But "The Dragon" absorbed every challenge with composed boxing and surgical hand combinations that consistently found their target across fifteen competitive rounds. Record: 16-1. The strawweight division's benchmark remains firmly set.

Adam "El Capitano" Benwarwar carried more than a mouthpiece into the ONE Friday Fights 162 bantamweight Muay Thai main event. He carried grief — his grandfather had passed away before he entered the ring. What followed was one of the most courageous performances Lumpinee has witnessed in recent memory.

Kongklai put him down twice. Twice Benwarwar rose. When the Moroccan finally found his right cross, the pendulum swung violently — a follow-up left hook floored Kongklai, a finishing combination at the ropes ended it at 2:44 of round two. He dedicated the victory to his grandfather. Record: 25-7.

Khunponnoi Sor Sommai had a plan and executed it almost perfectly. The 33-year-old Thai veteran spent two rounds systematically targeting Gregor Thom's body and head with his left kick in their flyweight Muay Thai co-main event, building a lead that proved too substantial to overcome.

Scotland's Thom made him earn it. A powerful right hook and punching combination in round three rocked the Thai and swung momentum briefly. Khunponnoi retreated to the clinch, survived the storm, and landed more trademark kicks before the bell. Unanimous decision. Record: 128-34. Experience wins again.
